Cannon Chinking is a log home maintenance company that covers the entire state of Iowa and the surrounding states. We specialize in the application and maintenance of exterior and interior wood finishes. Our company is fully insured and has a contractor license issued through the state of Iowa.

On new log home construction we can provide staining, caulking, chinking and insecticide application services. We have worked on new homes varying in size from one room homes to as large as thirteen thousand square foot homes.

For existing log homes Cannon Chinking can provide services for any type of maintenance work needing done. We can completely refinish the exterior of your home if it needs it or just do some minor repairs if that's all it needs.

I personally talk with every home owner before I inspect their home. This allows me the opportunity to get to know them and to talk to them about their home. This way they can tell me what maintenance issues they are specifically concerned about.

While I am doing their log home inspection this allows me the opportunity to make sure I find the areas they are concerned about.

After the inspection I will talk to the home owners to advice them of what I have found. When I return to my office I will make up a letter and send it to the owners describing the work needing done along with a bid.

The bid will include all of the materials needed and all of the labor to fully complete the job. NO ADD ON COSTS AT THE END.

The bid will also be broken down into the different phases of work needing done along with the cost of each phase.

I know that so far we have just talked about log homes and that they have maintenance issues. Any wooden structure can develop maintenance issues not just a log home.

Cannon Chinking has worked on homes and commericial buildings that have had cedar siding or vertical siding applied to their exteriors. Stain on these types of siding tends to deteriorate the same way it does on a log home.

The stain on these structures was bad enough that I had to remove it before applying a new coat. Like on a log home I used Corn Cob Blasting to remove the old stain.

As you can see log home products work equally well on other wooden structures. We just have to make sure that the wood is properly prepared and that the products are properly applied.
