LOG ROT REPAIR PRODUCTSTo repair a small area of log rot is a two step process involving two different products. In the first step we will be using a product called M-BALM. M-BALM is a two part liquid epoxy that you mix together to treat the soft decaying wood with. When you start to repair a rotten area first you should remove some of the decaying wood to make a small void in the log. Then with the M-BALM mixed up apply a liberal amount to the remaining soft wood in the void. As the M-BALM dries it will turn the soft wood into a hardened mass preparing it for the next step. HINT: The more M-BALM you can get to be absorbed into the soft wood the harder it will get when dry. I like to apply it 2 to 3 times. After the M-BALM has dried (24 hours) now you are ready to fill the void. E-WOOD which is a two part wood putty is used to fill it with. Simply fill the void area with the E-WOOD until it is a little over filled. Let it dry and then you can sand and shape it to the desired form you want. Once you have the sanding and shaping done you can go ahead and stain the repaired area. These products are very user friendly and come with very easy to follow instructions.
